We Always Watch for Early Signs of Oral Cancer

We Always Watch for Early Signs of Oral CancerThere are many signs to look for when talking about oral cancer. It is important to think about how little we look in our own mouths and the symptoms of our mouths we may minimize. You can do your own exams at home, but it is also important to engage in regular daily hygiene and check-ups. Oral cancer can come in many forms, so any sign or symptoms you experience should be treated.

Early Signs of Oral Cancer

Oral cancer refers to any cancer inside the mouth, and it can occur in the lips, gums, tongue, cheeks, roof of the mouth, or floor of the mouth. There are many different cancers grouped into the oral cancer umbrella. Lip and mouth sores that do not seem to heal can be a sign of oral cancer. Any white or reddish patches inside the mouth or abnormalities on the cheeks can be a sign as well. We check for these things during oral exams, but it is essential to stay mindful of these symptoms on your own as well. Loose teeth and any discomfort should be considered. Discomfort in the mouth, ears, or throat can all be signs of oral cancer and should be checked. Symptoms that are mild or that last less than two weeks may be related to other issues. It is important to get checked if any of these symptoms seem significant or last more than two weeks without relief.

Self-exams along with regular check-ups can help identify early signs of oral cancer. It is important to take note of any symptoms you are noticing so that we can help you prevent any advancements. If you have any questions about the signs of oral cancer or would like to set up an appointment, please give our office a call.
