Pack a Dental Bag When You Travel

Posted on 6/7/2021 by Thomas Mahar
Pack a Dental Bag When You TravelTraveling is great, especially during the summer months. Some people pack weeks before they leave for vacation, and some people pack the morning that they are leaving. Whenever you decide to pack for vacation, it is important to remember the necessities for oral care. Sharing toothbrushes is not an option if you forget your brush, and there are other necessary items to help you keep your mouth as healthy as possible while you indulge in a vacation.

What to Pack in Your Dental Bag

Most importantly, remember your toothbrush. Brushing twice a day is important both at home and on vacation. It is no secret that we tend to indulge in more sugar and unhealthy foods while on vacation, but this exposes our mouth to more harm than we realize. It is a crucial time to pay attention to our teeth. When packing your toothbrush, you want it to have ventilation so it can dry. This prevents bacteria from growing on the bristles. Other crucial items for your dental bag are toothpaste and dental floss.

You cannot brush your teeth without toothpaste, and it is important to floss regularly, especially if you are indulging in more than usual. Carrying sugar free gums or hard candies are great ways to help start the flow of saliva after meals, so they are always great to pack for vacation when you may not have access to your toothbrush or floss right away. There are also travel size mouthwashes that are great to pack. You do not have to worry about bringing it back home, but your mouth and teeth stay healthy and fresh.

Vacation is supposed to be carefree and fun, but forgetting to care for your teeth can have negative effects. Some choose to pack all travel size and disposable items, so that bringing it back home isn't necessary. This also eliminates the chances that you are bringing home bacteria after your brush has been stored. If you have more questions about how to prepare your mouth and teeth for vacation, please call us and we can help.
