Tips on Keeping Dental Bonding for As Long As Possible

Posted on 7/23/2020 by Thomas Mahar
Tips on Keeping Dental Bonding for As Long As PossibleDental bonding is applying a paste of tooth-colored, man-made resin material to your tooth, then smoothing it out to improve the appearance of chipped, cracked, or discolored teeth. It is important to handle the bonded teeth with caution because the composite resin used for bonding can easily break or chip. Frequent use of acidic foods weakens the bonding. Therefore, basic aftercare of the bonded teeth helps the teeth to look glossy and natural.

Brushing and Flossing

It is important to brush your teeth in the morning and at night using a toothpaste that contains fluoride. The toothbrush should be replaced after 3 to 4 months to ensure proper cleaning of the teeth. Whenever you are flossing your teeth, the floss must always be placed next to the gum line for complete removal of the plague before attending to the next tooth.

Habits to Avoid on Bonded Teeth

Continuous use of tobacco products results in the formation of yellow stains on both the natural and bonded teeth. Other foods and drinks such as red wine, colored candies, and tea can also stain your teeth. It is advisable to quit smoking or cut down on using dark-colored foods. Other habits that can destroy the composite resin is biting on hard objects or fingernails. These activities must be avoided to prevent the chipping of the composite resin.

The duration of the service of your bonded teeth also depends on the dentist who fixed it. It is important to get your teeth bonded by an experienced dentist. Our artistic, skilled professionals have vast experience and knowledge in this field. We incorporate comprehensive cosmetic procedures and advanced equipment to bring out the best results.
