A Comprehensive Oral Care Routine

No doubt you've heard that your oral health can affect your overall health and well-being. For example, gum disease has been linked to other health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. In order to approach your oral health holistically, you can look at ways to improve on your oral care routine. In other words, all of the aspects of your routine need to complement each other. Here are some steps to take to improve your dental hygiene, as well as your overall health.

Make sure to hold off an hour before brushing after drinking acidic beverages. In addition, some foods can boost your oral care routine. Coarse, fibrous foods, such as apples, pears, cucumbers, and carrots naturally scrape tooth surfaces, removing plaque. These foods also stimulate salivation due to longer chewing times, which neutralizes acid that can damage your teeth.

It's never too early or too late to improve your oral care habits or seek the care of our office for your dental care. To learn more about ways to maintain your oral health, contact us for a consultation.
