Your gums may not be super picky as to what you eat. However, they do have preferences, much like your taste buds do. If it was up to your gums, you would eat little more than produce.
This is because produce stimulates them to be healthier and to avoid nasty things like gum disease. If you aren't quite sure what produce items to eat that will keep your gums healthy, along with the rest of your mouth, here are a few tips. Which of them do you regularly include in your diet? Why Your Gums Want You Eating ProduceProduce is definitely the food your gums enjoy the most. The texture of the produce when you chew it helps to clean the gums, both above and below the gum line. Each bite stimulates the gums to move around, allowing them to stay healthy enough to hold tight to the teeth, and removing a lot of the plaque that tends to build up right along the gum line. This should include things like leafy greens, cabbage, carrots, celery, and peppers. Each of these foods is great for your mouth, and it helps your gums remain healthy. Fruits can also be great for your gums. What you want to eat the most of are fruits that you can eat with the skins on. The more you eat of the skins, the more fiber you get, and the more stimulation your gums get. Eat as many apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, plums, and pluots as you can to help your gums. Talk with your dentist about how healthy your gums are. If you have problem areas, try adding a lot more produce into your diet. That way, as your gums get healthier, the rest of your body does, too.
