Do you have veneers on any of your teeth? If so, then you may have also noticed some of them begin to crack. Cracking veneers are relatively common as it is just a thin sheet of porcelain that is placed over your tooth.

However, not all cracks need to have anything done to them. Only cracks that have exposed a significant portion of the tooth below, or that have lifted up the veneer, need to be dealt with.

Having a Dentist Check Your Veneer

If you notice that your veneer has cracked, you should go in and get your veneer checked by your dentist. They can determine if the veneer is still sound enough to stay put, or if it needs to be replaced. If it is sound enough to stay put, then it is up to you if you want to pay to have it replaced or not.

Veneers, especially when properly cared for, can last 10-15 years, sometimes more. If you are not near the end of that lifetime, you could have many years of life left in your veneers. That may make it worthwhile to leave the veneer in place.
